The Global Sourcing Team of Scanfil visited November 15-18 Electronica fair in München, Germany. Electronica is the world’s leading trade fair, which makes it the most important international meeting place for the electronics industry. This year roughly 70,000 visitors met again in person.

“We run face-to-face meetings during the fair to understand better key distributors and manufacturers in electronics”, states Tomi Takanen Global Sourcing Director at Scanfil. ”As an outcome of these meetings, we got a good insight into the market situation for each component segment and the prevailing situation and near future”.

Scanfil’s Sourcing Team had approximately 40 supplier meetings during the fair. Top management from distributors like Arrow, Avnet group, Future, TTI and Rutronik were met with agenda focusing on the market situation, improved resilience, digitalization and flexibility. Among others, manufacturers like Onsemi, NXP, STM, TI, Phoenix, Samtec and TDK were also met. The goals of the manufacturer meetings were to get their direct comments and drive further their commitment to Scanfil’s end-customer projects. Also, some most interesting and potential new suppliers were met to understand their capabilities in the future supplier road maps.

The market for passives and memories is already quite well in balance. Overall PEMCO market has also eased up and connector manufacturers see also stabilizing demand.

As an outcome of these discussions, we see, that the market situation continues to be tight for processors, MCUs, MPUs and power semiconductors in the first half of 2023.

Different Preferred Supply Programs from the manufacturers like have locked in the demand, which is postponing the market coming into balance.
