As global concerns about climate change continue to rise, many companies are taking steps to become more transparent about their sustainability practices. In line with this trend, Scanfil has decided to report its sustainability numbers on a quarterly basis. This decision reflects our commitment to corporate social responsibility and our recognition of the importance of accountability and transparency in ensuring a sustainable future.
“We at Scanfil are committed to developing our sustainability, sustainability targets, and our sustainability reporting and measuring. By sharing our sustainability metrics more frequently, we hope to demonstrate our progress towards our sustainability targets,” explains Mats Lindblad, Director of Global Quality and Sustainability.
Scanfil’s sustainability objectives until 2030
The first quarter of 2023 has been promising. Our CO2 emissions (tCO2e) for the first quarter totaled 2,295, and we succeeded in reducing CO2 / value-add by more than 60%. In addition, we increased the share of fossil-free energy to 52.8%. Our environmental actions in Q1 have included signing a green energy agreement in Wutha, and we have started data collection in all factories to reduce package waste and to improve our recycling processes. The first results are expected to be reported in early May at the latest.
Our centric social objectives for 2023 include reducing workplace accidents, % of active workforce, to maximum 1.2%, and increasing the percentage of women in the senior management to 26% . In Q1, the workplace accidents, percentage of active workforce totaled 0.7% and the percentage of women in the senior management was 23%. To prevent workplace accidents, we have implemented stricter reporting and auditing at most impacted factories. In addition, the Scanfil DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Forum was founded, and the first meeting was organized at the end of April.
Our centric governance objectives include achieving EcoVadis Gold rating, onboarding Code of Conduct training to all new employees and ensuring that Supplier Code of Conduct is signed by all new suppliers. In Q1, 100% of new suppliers signed the Supplier Code of Conduct and 100% of new employees conducted the Code of Conduct training. In addition, preparations for EcoVadis Gold are proceeding as planned.
