One of the obstacles in the utilization of cobots has been a relatively long setup time. Transportable cobot fixture cuts setup time significantly and enables higher utilization. A new fixture has been planned and manufactured at Sievi, where it is also in test use. Results have been encouraging.
“In the first phase, we have executed relatively simple and repetitive manufacturing tasks,” says Tapio Somero, who acted as a key planner and programmed the cobot. “Screwing different frames is one of the key tasks and it has worked even better than expected”.
If tests prove new fixture beneficial, we can take this into our other factories and improve efficiency across all our nine factories.
